Do I need to have Google Chat^TM to use Herald?

Yes. Herald is a Google Chat^TM app and runs exclusively inside Google Chat^TM. You will need an active Google^TM account with access to Google Chat^TM to install and use Herald.

Do I need to create an account?

No account creation is needed. Install Herald directly from the Google Workspace Marketplace^TM, add it to your Chat^TM space, and configure your filters with /filters.

What data does Herald access?

Herald only accesses the Google Chat^TM space it is installed in, in order to deliver job alert notifications. It does not access your Google Drive^TM, Gmail^TM, or any other Google^TM services. Your filter preferences are stored securely and used solely to match Upwork^TM listings.

Is my private key stored securely?

Your private key is protected by your passphrase and stored using User Properties service. It cannot be accessed without it. Aegis is designed so that only you can unlock and use your private key for encryption and decryption, ensuring your conversations remain private.

How quickly will I receive job alerts?

Herald monitors Upwork^TM continuously and delivers alerts as soon as a matching listing is detected. In most cases, notifications arrive within minutes of a job being posted — giving you the best chance of being among the first to apply.

Can I use Herald in multiple Google Chat spaces?

Yes. Herald can be added to multiple spaces, each with its own independent filter settings. This is useful if you want to separate alerts by job category, skill set, or client type across different spaces.
